Lateral Police Officer Position

The City of Ralston is accepting applications to fill one current open position of a full-time Lateral Police Officer.   Applicants must be a Nebraska certified law enforcement officer, or out-of-state officers must be eligible for Reciprocity through the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center.  Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma from an accredited high school or GED, be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire, a U.S. citizen, and have no felony convictions or dishonorable discharge from military service.  Applicants must be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation.  Applicants will also be required to submit to a polygraph, psychological exam, and physical exam (including vision and drug screen).  Preference points will be awarded for veterans (Qualified DD214 required).

The current salary range for Nebraska certified officers is $62,712 to $80,745 based on experience and qualifications. The City and the F.O.P. Lodge #21 are currently negotiating a new contract to begin October 1, 2024.  The salary range may increase anywhere up to $69,079 to $88,495 depending on those contract negotiations.  Lateral officers may be placed anywhere in the pay range depending on experience and other factors.  The City of Ralston offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package including holidays, vacation, sick leave, full family health, dental, vision and life insurance, AD & D Insurance, and defined contribution matching Retirement Plan.  An additional benefit includes a $4,000 hiring bonus, paid half at time of hire and the other half upon satisfactory completion of FTO training and probationary period.
