Job Opening: Lateral Police Officer Position

        The City of Ralston is accepting applications for the position of one full-time Lateral Police Officer.  This is an OPEN position to be filled immediately, however, the eligibility list created will remain active for one year unless it is exhausted prior to that date.  A second lateral police officer position may become open within the time frame of this eligibility list.  Applicants must be a Nebraska certified law enforcement officer, or must have a completed audit from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center identifying them as eligible for reciprocity. Other qualifications may apply.  Applicants must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, polygraph, physical exam (including drug screen) and psychological exam.   Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license, be of good moral character, and have no serious misdemeanor convictions, no felony convictions, or a dishonorable discharge from military service.

        The starting salary for a reciprocity candidate is $45,988.  A Nebraska certified applicant’s starting salary is $52,873.  Police officers’ salaries range from $55,515 to $71,364 upon completion of a 14-week Field Training program and six month probationary period.
